The Telegraph, a newspaper in the United Kingdom has revealed that filming for the new Tarzan blockbuster has come to Kendleston Hall in Derbyshire, England. True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård is to star inthe film along with Samuel L. Jackson and Margot Robbie. While filming has begun, it is not clear who is at the stately home on the outskirts of Derby this week. So we can’t confirm if Alex is there or not fans, sorry!
Small fluorescent signs with TTU printed in black point the way from the city center to the hall, directing crew to grounds. The grounds have been totally shut off, with only the small entrance, off the main road, open. A security guard is patrolling the gate and large black 4x4s with tinted windows were seen the leaving the site.
When the Telegraph tried to enter the grounds, the photographer and reporter were told the house was closed and that the nearest attraction open was Calke Abbey.
Driving along the Kedleston Road it is possible to make out the large cranes with what appears to be lighting rigs suspended above the roof of the house.
After the Telegraph broke the news that filming was taking place, the internet exploded with rumours about who could be at the house.
Shirley Cowden (presumably a True Blood fan) rang the Derby Telegraph for tips where film stars may stay if they were in the area.
And Shirley may even be making the trip from her home in Scotland to try and meet her heartthrob, True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard.
Shirley, from Dalry, Ayrshire, said: “I have tried everything to meet Alex but I have never been able to do it.
“I have been a fan of him for the past five years and have all the True Blood series and the films that he has been in.
“When I saw that Tarzan was being filmed in Derby it was too good an opportunity to pass up.
“It is only an hour on the plane from Glasgow to East Midlands Airport so it isn’t that far and this might be the only chance that I can have to get to see him.”
The house has played host to stars before with The Duchess being filmed there. It featured Keira Knightley in the eponymous role.
Kedleston Hall is an English country house in Kedleston, Derbyshire, approximately four miles north-west of Derby, and is the seat of the Curzon family whose name originates in Notre-Dame-de-Courson in Normandy. Today it is a National Trust property.
The Curzon family have owned the estate at Kedleston since at least 1297 and have lived in a succession of manor houses near to or on the site of the present Kedleston Hall. The present house was commissioned by Sir Nathaniel Curzon (later 1st Baron Scarsdale) in 1759. The house was designed by the Palladian architects James Paine and Matthew Brettingham and was loosely based on an original plan by Andrea Palladio for the never-built Villa Mocenigo. At the time a relatively unknown architect, Robert Adam was designing some garden temples to enhance the landscape of the park; Curzon was so impressed with Adam’s designs, that Adam was quickly put in charge of the construction of the new mansion.
