alexander-skarsgard-022512- (5)The casting has now been confirmed for the upcoming 3D version of “Tarzan” starring Alexander Skarsgård.

The production will begin later this year with “Wolf of Wall Street’s,” Margot Robbie, who will play the part of Jane, Christoph Waltz will be a Belgian soldier who tries to capture Tarzan in exchange for a ransom in diamonds, and Samuel L. Jackson is to be the US Ambassador to the CongoDavid Yates, who made the last four “Harry Potter movies,” will direct.

With shooting due to start, Skarsgård, not surprisingly, is hitting the gym regularly to prepare for playing the loin-clothed one.

The timing is good for what should be the Swedish actor’s major big-screen breakthrough, as his long-running role as True Blood vampire Eric Northman is “sadly” coming to an end.

On another, but related topic: Alex’s father, Stellan Skarsgård is now lined up to play the part of the shady oligarch in an upcoming thriller based on John le Carré’s novel “Our Kind of Traitor.”  Ralph Fiennes was originally to play the part, but had to drop out.

We congratulate both father and son on landing the roles.
