Alberto Lombardi Opens 31 in Highland Park Village

By Ohsocynthia @OhSoCynthia
The recent change in ownership of Highland Park Village has brought many changes to this landmark shopping destination. None have been more highly anticipated than the opening of 31, a one-of-a-kind destination for champagnes, cocktails  and light dining tucked above Bistro 31 in the historic Highland Park Village. And, as with Bistro 31, the name 31 evokes the history of the location - Highland Park Village was first developed in 1931.  I am a huge fan of Alberto Lombardi. His restaurants are among my favorites. He always knocks it out of the park and I'm sure 31 will be no exception!

Opening today this new culinary, drinks and entertainment venue has three distinct bars and entertaining areas, that all connect to form one incredible space. 31 offers guests a perfect blend of casual sophistication, cozy corners and European flair. Combined with its overall eclectic vibe, 31 has been designed to feel like a historic villa that has been there forever. 31 features luxurious but intimate spaces including a champagne bar, terrace villa, and outdoor patio that link the two interior spaces. Bistro tables spill out from the terrace villa to the patio and continue down to surround the Italian-tiled fountain below.
The menu, created by Bistro 31 Executive Chef Eric Brandt, features foods perfect for noshing before dinner, as a light dinner or late into the night. The champagne room has a selection of both domestic and foreign caviars and foie gras presentations. Throughout the patio bar and terrace villa, the menu features charcuterie plates, Mediterranean tapas and ceviches, fritto misto and signature cocktails. On weekends and late nights, music will be very important and set the mood at 31.

Stefani Burns, a Dallas native, has returned to the city after traveling the globe, and has mastered the fun night out with jobs as a DJ in New York and elsewhere, realizing that a great atmosphere draws people in. The open-air patio connecting the terrace villa and champagne bar will provide seating with rich, fabric-covered banquettes and a 6-foot long bar height, marble communal table.
The ceiling’s draped awning is retractable, providing starlight nights and sunny afternoons for guests.  Table lamps on the large white Carrera marble bar topping the hand carved wooden façade provide more than a touch of Italian charm. Retractable doors between the patio and the terrace villa provide a constant indoor-outdoor experience, while air conditioning and heaters allow the patio to be enjoyed al fresco, year-round. Lighting strung from the patio balcony to the balcony across the fountain adds a Mediterranean touch to the atmosphere.
Both the patio and terrace villa boast a warm neutral color palette of creams with shades of butterscotch. Tufted wingback sofas and settees in the terrace villa provide seating amidst the luxurious faux snakeskin walls and soft sheer drapes. A white lacquer bar with leather panels adds a bright touch to the space. The indoor champagne lounge, offering over 20 different types of champagnes and sparkling wines, provides a sensual yet eclectic vibe. Accentuating the history of the Highland Park Village space, exposed brick is side by side with walls upholstered in decadent blue fabric, accented with leather in bronze and shimmering herringbone. The ceiling features exposed rafters and mid-century inspired chandeliers, while the center of the room features two highly tufted settees, back to back over a warm and colorful antique area rug. Tufted leather accents and mirrors adorn the champagne room’s bar.
