Alaus Namai

By Richard Randall @aude11360

On our first day in Vilnius, instead of heading to any of the tourist sights in the city, we decided to head instead to Alaus Namai. It turned out to be a wise decision. There was a fantastic selection of beers on tap and in bottles.
I started off with a glass of Lithuanian cider, which was not bad. It tasted almost Perry like. Next up I had the weekly guest beer. It was a dark beer and excellent but I have no idea who produced it, or what is was called. The woman serving said the name but it was to fast for me to catch. Mrs. R had a glass of Varniuku, a dark beer from Pakruojis, which she reported was a good sup.
For lunch I had the special of the day of rolled stuffed pork with mashed potato and a creamy sauce. Mrs.R had chicken with rice and salad. Both meals hit the mark.
The lady serving us spoke good English, and there was an English menu, which helped a great deal. The bar and dinning area was a good size and even during a mid week lunch hour there was a decent amount of customers stopping by for lunch and a beer.
