Alan Ball Gets A Series On Cinemax

Alan Ball Gets A Series On CinemaxAlan Ball has a lot of work ahead of him this year.  Cinemax, HBO’s sibling, just ordered 10 episodes of Alan Ball’s crime drama, Banshee.  He will be the executive producer on this show.

The writers of this show are Jonathan Tropper and David Schicker.  Here is a description of the show:

“The show will revolve around a criminal who steps into the identity of the Banshee, Penn., where he continues his shady ways while being hunted by gangsters he crossed in his past.”

The director for the pilot will be Greg Yaitanes and he will also be the executive producer with Alan, Jonathan, David and Peter Macdissi.  Alan will have to do a juggling act with Banshee and his other show on HBO, True Blood, which is in production for its fifth season.

With Strike Back being picked up for a second season Cinemas has been trying to make a bigger push into original scripted series.

If two shows weren’t enough Alan Ball also have Wichita, an hourlong medical drama in development with HBO.  Wichita is about:

“A Kansas surgeon who inadvertently becomes a focal pint of contemporary political, cultural and ethical war surrounding late-term abortions.”

Alan Ball has inked a multiyear deal with HBO in July of this year.  With that being said I think Alan Ball and his creative mind will be around for a while yet.
