Director Vishnuvardhan has a great association with Yuvan Shankar Raja and so does Ajith with the music director. Not only that this is the second film in the trios combination after the super successful Billa. Expectations, naturally, are huge among the fans however we have our expectations in check thanks to the lack of obsession on the film. Let’s see how the album has fared.
“Adadada Arrambame” gives the album a rocking start. The highly energetic beats matched by an equally spirited rendition by Shankar Mahadevan make it an instant winner and opens the album with a bang. “En Fuse Pochu” is a peppy fun number musically with impressive interludes. It is made even more likeable due to singer Karthik.
Another peppy number follows in “Hare Rama” sung by Shakthisree Gopalan. It is a typical Yuvan number that makes for a good listen, but nothing memorable here barring a couple of interludes. “Melala Vadikudhu” follows a similar trajectory as ‘Hare Rama’, albeit with a catchier hook that comes in the beginning, first interlude and the very end. The album ends on a mixed note with “Stylish Thamizhachi”. The beginning of the song with the female rap is effortlessly cppl and foot tapping but as the song progresses it loses its way and finally ends up in a nondescript way.
Arrambam album in the end is a fairly satisfying listen for someone like us who had the expectations in check. It’s not a Billa but far better than recent Billa 2 and very good listen.For that matter even the title track here doesn’t match the exuberance of Mankatha’s but as a complete package its better than the latter. It might be different(expectations) for fans though but that can’t be helped.
