Apple is currently producing two real wireless earphone models: the second generation model (This list costs $ 159, but is usually sold in the United States for less than $ 139.) With optional wireless charging and $ 249 AirPods Prothat have active noise cancellation. I personally prefer the AirPods Pro and rated it higher than the standard AirPods in my test. But they cost around $ 110 more than the basic AirPods without wireless charging, and not everyone likes their noise-isolating design, where you have a silicone earplug that is easily pressed into your ear canal. Simply put, the main reason to buy the standard AirPods is to save money. The regular charging case model currently costs $ 139, while the wireless charging case model costs $ 169 ($ 199 if you buy from the Apple Store). Occasionally, prices drop to $ 130, and you can find "renewed" options for just $ 120. I personally think wireless charging is a bit overrated (when it comes to headphones) so I wouldn't pay the extra money for it. If I were to buy the standard AirPods, my goal would be to pay as little as possible for it.
As I said, some people don't like silicone buds stuck in their ears. That's why so many people like the original AirPods. They simply nestle in your ear - and if they fit properly, they really feel good. And some people at CNET have told me that the AirPods Pro sounded better, but still preferred the fit of the regular AirPods.
I'm one of those who can't hold the standard AirPods safely in my ears without using third-party stabilizing wings (and you'll need to take off the wings to get the AirPods back in their charging case, which is a nuisance). . That is the main reason why I prefer AirPods Pro.
The main disadvantage of the "open" design of the standard AirPods is that ambient noise can enter. They sound decent in quieter environments - and their performance as a headset for making calls is almost as good as that of the AirPods Pro - but in noisy environments, the listening experience deteriorates. The standard AirPods fit perfectly to some people's ears (some people have no problem walking with them), but many people cannot get a secure fit. If you belong to the latter group, I highly recommend spending the extra money on AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro design simply fits more ears than the original AirPods. I hesitate to call it a universal fit because there are always exceptions, but they are close together.
As mentioned earlier, the only problem is that some people simply don't like having silicone buds in their ears, even if they're as soft and smooth as these tips. Some people are also sensitive to the feeling of pressure, even if it is slight. This is a by-product of active noise cancellation.
The first thing you notice about the AirPods Pro is that it just sounds better than the standard AirPods because it has more bass. The reason why they have more bass is mainly due to their new noise-isolating design and the new drivers that are matched to this design. The standard AirPods sound decent enough in quiet places, but due to their open design, they're not good at external noise - drown out the bass frequencies. The AirPods' effective noise cancellation also helps with outside noise. By combining the tip seal and the ANC, they sound much better in noisy environments such as city streets.
The standard AirPods are good for making calls. With the release of the second generation model last year - the ones discussed above - Apple improved its noise reduction features, especially wind noise. The AirPods Pro have three microphones on each bud, one of which is a beamforming microphone that you can use to record your voice. They also have similar noise reduction features, as well as a venting system that is designed not only to relieve the pressure that a noise-isolating design combined with noise canceling features in your ear can also help to reduce the wind noise a bit, said me Apple representative. More importantly, because of the professional noise-isolating design, you can easily hear callers better.
The AirPods Pro will soon have another advantage. In June, Apple announced at its global developer conference that the AirPods Pro will receive a major upgrade in the fall of iOS 14: a "spatial audio" feature that simulates surround sound.
