This British Airways A380 departs SFO runway 28L for a long overnight flight to Heathrow.  The A380 is the world’s largest passenger airliner and only full-length double-deck airliner.  Initially named Airbus A3XX, the A380 made its first flight in April 2005 and began commercial service with British Airways in 2013.  In 2015, British Airways inaugurated service with the A380 to/from SFO.  With a fleet of 12, BA’s A380 aircraft are unique is that all premium seats are at the front of the plane: first class is downstairs in the nose, and business class is both upstairs and downstairs. Economy sections are in the rear half of the plane. Most other airlines with A380s put all business or first class seats upstairs only.  On 17 March 2021, the final Airbus A380 (manufacturing serial number 272) made its maiden flight from Toulouse to Hamburg for cabin outfitting before being delivered to Emirates.
