It’s uncommon to see a Lufthansa A340 heading into SFO since the route is usually serviced by their Airbus A380 or Boeing 747 aircraft.  Launch customer Lufthansa placed the A340 into service in March 1993, with 17 currently in service.  First flown in 1991, Airbus announced on 10 November 2011 that A340 production had been concluded.  Designed to replace early-generation Boeing 747 airliners, the A340-600 is capable of carrying 379 passengers (similar passenger capacity to a 747) with 25 percent more cargo volume, and lower operating costs.  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
