Launch customer Lufthansa placed the A340 into service in March 1993, with 33  currently in service.  First flown in 1991, Airbus announced on 10 November 2011 that A340 production had been concluded.  Designed to replace early-generation Boeing 747 airliners, the A340-600 is capable of carrying 379 passengers (similar passenger capacity to a 747) with 25 percent more cargo volume, and lower operating costs.  Frankfurt is Lufthansa’s main hub of operations.  Fuji XE-2s w/18-55mm.
