An SAS A320 makes its way to the arrival gate at a busy London Heathrow airport. Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, was founded in 1946 as a consortium of three different Scandinavian air operators. This aircraft wears their newest livery, unveiled in 2019. First flown in 2014, the A320NEO started out as the A320 Enhanced (A320E) program with a series of efficiency improvements and a new aircraft cabin. Nearly 28 years after the first A320, on 25 January 2016, the A320neo entered service with Lufthansa, the type’s launch customer. This is one of 36 in the SAS fleet with 19 on order, all will replace older Boeing 737-700 aircraft as part of their plan to have an all-Airbus fleet by 2023.
