Planespotting on the move, captured this multi-hued Lufthansa A319 getting deiced as we taxiied for departure. Aircraft deicing and anti-icing fluids are color-coded (orange, clear, yellow and green) for coverage verification and for differing aircraft takeoff speeds. Lufthansa currently operates 35 of these shortened-fuselage variant of the Airbus A320. The A319 was designed to compete with the Boeing 737-700. With virtually the same fuel capacity as the A320-200 and fewer passengers, the A319 has a range of 3,590 mi. The A319’s wingspan is wider than the aircraft’s overall length. First flown in 1995, more than 1,500 A319 airliners have been delivered.
