Air Europa has announced a partnership with TravelX, the travel industry’s first blockchain-based distribution system, and blockchain platform Algorand to offer “NFTickets,” the world’s first airline ticket series based on non-fungible tokens.
Owners will be eligible for a one-of-a-kind Air Europa flight to Miami Beach on November 29, 2022, as well as incentives and events leading up to the Americas’ greatest art show, which will be held in Miami Beach in December. Every 14 days, ten NFTickets will be given away in partnership with prominent bands through the auction site travelxchange.com/.

NFTickets function similarly to conventional NFTs, however, they are very rare on their own. When a bitcoin transaction is made, it is securely recorded on the blockchain. When the owner is ready to use the NFT, he or she just reveals it to the system, and a flight ticket is generated in its place. Consumers will be able to own a piece of travel industry history and participate in the world’s first blockchain-backed flight with the TravelX and Air Europa NFTickets.
Ximena Caminos is curating the NFTicket series “The Art as the Destination,” for which she commissioned Carlos Betancourt, a multidisciplinary artist of worldwide repute.
“Discovery and adventure excite artists,” Betancourt said. “Similarly, one may make the same claim regarding technology. In this project, I’m experimenting with the intersections between art and technology. The animation artwork is inspired by cosmic concepts, legendary places, and trip experiences, as well as the emotions and sentiments elicited by these occurrences.”
