South London indie-rockers Ain’t have shared new single ‘Pirouette’ ahead of a hefty touring schedule and debut London headline show at The Waiting Room on 12 June. Guitarist/vocalist George Ellerby says: ”Pirouette’ details the drudgery of break ups and the lethargy that can come with dating, but I feel it’s preoccupied with a sense of something overwhelmingly hopeful and exhilarating falling into place.’
Recorded with Theo Verney (English Teacher, Lime Garden), the song opens with a burst of slacker-pop stylings and guitar hooks before veering into a more swaying shoegazey sound as the band harmonise about finding a perfect way out of a situation they don’t want to be in. The song expertly falters around the two-and-a-half-minute mark as the band repeat the question ‘Does this entertain you?’ before it then bursts back into life with Cribs-esque jangle hooks.
