Parents With 7 Kids Let Maggots Build Up In Baby’s Diaper
Like, c’mon. A couple with 7 kids in their care was arrested in North Carolina, and are now facing a string of child abuse charges after police say they neglected their children to the point that their 18-month-old infant was found with a diaper infested with maggots, and six other children were extremely malnourished. 25-year-old Jamie Hiatt and 24-year-old Michael McKnight got a surprise welfare check from police to their home on Friday, according to The Dispatch, and police say they found the 7 children in a background, soiled in human and animal feces. The children ranged from one to six years old.
“As soon as the officers walked in, they reported an overwhelming smell of feces and urine,” Hunt said. “The overall condition of the home was nasty; the living conditions were extremely poor. The malnutrition had been taking place for quite some time. From the condition of the children, it was apparent this was an unclean environment.”
The report says the two officers immediately contacted EMS because of the condition of the children, and the baby with maggot pamper was treated and released to family members. These two horrendous procreators didn’t get off easy. Hiatt and McKnight are both charged with felony neglect-child abuse and six counts of misdemeanor child abuse. They are each being held on a $100,000 bond.
