Against the Tide

By Travellingartist @devtramp

Bay of Bengal, November 2016. In this part of the bay; the slow tide of development in the countryside and the surge of the internet and communication infrastructure in modern worlds do not seem to have significantly impacted village people's lives. Whole families - including children who are supposed to be in school and women who need to play other important roles in the household - comprise the villages' fishing crew that try to eke out a living from the sea on a day-to-day basis. As I was observing whole families haul a massive net into their boat, my lens fell on one of the ladies trying aggressively to pull the net away from the big waves pounding the shore.
