Afternoon Tea with The TeaShed

Hello Freckles Afternoon Tea with The TeaShed North East MarriottAfternoon tea and tea tasting on a Saturday, what more could you ask for?
I booked up for Afternoon Tea with The TeaShed almost as soon as I heard about it. My sister is an avid tea drinker (you should see the kitchen cupboard, seriously) so I knew this would be right up her street and with us both being in and out at work so much lately, it was a great way to spend some time together.

The Marriott hotel in Sunderland is located in Roker, right on the sea front, so it's a prime location during the Sunderland Airshow in particular; but equally well loved all year round for functions and meals in their restaurant. I'd never had their afternoon tea before and honestly, I was more excited about the tea tasting, as I knew their sandwiches and cakes would be quite traditional.

Hello Freckles Afternoon Tea The TeaShed Marriott Sunderland We sampled four different TeaShed teas before settling on sharing a pot of Mr Grey's Tea (Earl Grey of course) though the Skinny Tea (Green Tea) and Mint Tea were both really good too. Months ago I was first intoduced to TeaShed through the Boiler Shop Steamer event in Newcastle, where gloomy weather forced me to buy a chai latte - the best thing when you want a hug in a mug!

I hope The TeaShed can arrange more tasting events like this and I'd highly recommend trying out their teas. Jules, the owner, founder and chief tea lady, as she calls herself, is absolutely lovely and it was great to have her on hand to answer any questions whilst we enjoyed scones and cakes.

The Marriott serve Afternoon Tea daily, for more information visit their website,

TeaShed tea is stocked locally in the North East and available to purchase online here.
