After Work Relaxation

Posted on the 11 November 2021 by Latoya @latoyallawrence

I have been working back-to-back non-stop during the past weeks, and on top of it, I did a double shift yesterday.

I love my job; however, I have three days off now to rest and I am going to relax.

When I arrived home last night, I prepared me a delicious spaghetti meal that came out just right.

I made whole wheat thin pasta noodles. I added garlic, basil, and oregano to the tomato sauce that I poured over my vegan dinner.

While I ate, I watched a movie.

“Carlito’s Way”, that starred AL Pacino and Sean Penn aired on one of my cable channels around ten pm.

I had seen this movie when it first hit the theaters back in the early nineties when I was still a teen.

It has been on cable many times since, but this is the first time I sat down and thoroughly watched and paid attention to the film as I did when I viewed it for the very first time. Some scenes I did remember, yet most of the film I did not.

I have an appreciation for Carlito’s Way that I did not have before. I did not initially realize how good a movie the film actually was all those years ago. I really enjoyed watching this piece of cinema.

Carlito’s Way was entertaining, nostalgic (from the era set within the film), deep, and realistic with a suspenseful action-packed ending.

It is strange to me too because my mother took me to see Scarface in the early eighties when I was about eight or nine, and I loved and remembered everything about that movie back then as I do now. I just seen Scarface the other night on cable for the millionth time without getting tired.

My mother had always loved Al Pacino and his films from back in the day. She also loved Sean Penn and Christopher Walken in “At Close Range”.

I always thought all were wonderful actors and I have enjoyed a lot of their films.

It is great when we can have a better understanding for artwork later down the line that may have went overlooked for whatever reason.

It was so nice to watch Carlito’s Way again as if for the first time with a better clarity inside the coziness of my apartment.

I really enjoyed a relaxing evening after work.
