Smartwatch company Pebble Technology first made headlines 3 years ago when it raised $10 Million dollars for the e-paper watch on Kickstarter.
In early 2015, Pebble broke Kickstarter records when it crowdfunded Pebble Time raising $1 Million in 49 minutes and then set a record for raising the most money on Kickstarter, over $20 Million dollars for its smartwatch Pebble Time.

The company has been using the domain name GetPebble.com which has been registered since May 27, 2011 but according to whois records, about March 1, 2015 Pebble Technology has made a domain name upgrade and has secured the exact match domain name Pebble.com which was already owned and in use providing local product/services search by somebody else!
Fast forward in time to about mid September 2015 and Pebble.com is now a stand alone website for the company and GetPebble.com lives on as well.
Between March 2015 and mid September 2015, the domain name Pebble.com was simply redirecting to GetPebble.com.
On September 23, 2015 Pebble announced Pebble Time Round on its blog at GetPebble.com and mentions in the blog post that they are taking pre-orders at Pebble.com.
This is another example where a startup goes and gets the exact match .com after getting funded and/or starts making a lot of money, it probably cost them a lot more to wait but that’s the way it often goes.
To note, the category defining generic domain name Smartwatch.com is owned by Google Inc. which I noted in a October 16, 2014 article on DotWeekly.
