Affordable Windows Phone – Nokia Lumia 610
Fancy a Windows Phone? I have tried Symbian and Android but not Windows Phone. Guess how would you operate one, is it at par with Android? Only owners of Windows Phone will be able to tell. Well, I am particularly interested about the device in this post because Nokia’s low-end Windows phone, the Lumia 610 is now available for under RM500, the device is priced for only RM430 at lelong.com.my, however it is important to check both the seller and device thoroughly before buying. Some online phone sellers are just nothing but scammers, so read the reviews on the seller carefully, pay attention on some negative reviews. At another online store, Lazada.com.my the item is available for RM529, at least this online store is reliable as I have already purchased two items from them without any problem, bearing in mind however I am not working for the company nor do I encourage you to buy from them. You might able to buy the phone cheaply at a local phone shop near you!
In term of specs, the Nokia Lumia 610 features a body dimension of 119 x 62 x 12 mm, 77.6 cc (4.69 x 2.44 x 0.47 in) and weigh about 131.5 g (4.62 oz). It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon MHz ARM Cortex-A5 processor running at 800 MHz and an Adreno 200 GPU. It runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. The display is 3.7-inch multi-touch TFT capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The camera is a decent 5MP with resolution of 2592х1944 pixels, equipped with autofocus and LED flash. Memory wise, the Lumia 610 has 8 GB of storage, 256 MB RAM but sadly there is no microSD card slot. Connectivity wise, the device supports GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots) with speed of 32 – 48 kbps, EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps, HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA running at 5.76 Mbps, WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, V2.1 Bluetooth with A2DP, EDR and microUSB v2.0. The greatest drawback I think is the absence of a microSD card slot, since most smartphones are equipped with one, it is surprisingly odd that Nokia didn’t slotted one in, or maybe it is for keeping the price low and affordable. With no microSD slot means a user may need to transfer files to a PC or laptop much more regularly than others.
Verdict: The cheapest “short cut” to Windows Phone at this time, it is affordable and based on some websites reviews the device still provide impressive user experience despite some limitation such as no microSD card. For more information please watch the video below courtesy of Nokia.
