This rare Italian C.202 shares space in the WWII Aviation Gallery with the classic P-51D Mustang.  First flown in 1940, the Folgore is considered to be one of the best wartime fighters to serve in large numbers with the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force) and demonstrated that Italy could design and build fighter aircraft to world-class standards. The Italian Air Force operated some Macchi C.202 as late as 1948.  Brought back to the U.S. for evaluation during the war, this example in the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum is one of two survivors.  Fuji X-E2s w/18-55mm.
