With summer finally kicking in to gear, a season of adventure sports is upon us. Dublin’s location – amidst plentiful and lush countryside and adjacent to the sea – means it’s perfect for any adrenaline junkies looking for a fix. So, with that in mind, here’s a guide to Dublin for people wanting a holiday with a twist.
Travelodge Dublin Airport hotels are the ideal place to stay for this kind of break; close to landing but also close to the city and all the adventure spots listed in this guide. Check them out!
Land
If you’re keen to stay on the same stuff you were born on (look away water babies) then you might be keen on Xtreme.ie - Ireland’s leading outdoor adventure activity & team building company. Their brand new, state of the art Adventure Centre in Courtlough, Balbriggan, North County Dublin features a wide range of Adrenaline and Adventure Activities including Aerial Trekking, Zip Lines, Paintball and Giant Swing. Open to the general public 7 days a week, it’s perfect for the whole family,  as it’s child friendly - catering for ages 7 upwards.
Sea
You may not realize it, but there’s a way to traverse Dublin’s impressive rivers while not straying too far from the wonderful attractions the city itself has to offer. City Kayaking are the only company offering kayaking on the River Liffey in Dublin City Centre, meaning you can moor up, clean up and go for a bite to eat in the city’s very best restaurants. Expore the magnificent River Liffy and see some of the most famous landmarks from the wonderful surrounds of the river. Less than a 10 minute walk from O’Connell Street and only around the corner from the bus, train and Luas stations it’s very easy to get to.
Air
The Irish Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association make it possible for all you thrill seekers interested in getting a more aerial hit get airborne. Paraglide Adventure Irl is the oldest established paragliding school and currently the only full time training facility in the Ireland, so where else are you going to go? Open 7 days a week, they’re available to teach whenever the wind and weather are suitable.
