Adult Mom have shared ‘Sober’, the new single from their forthcoming ‘Driver’ on 5 March via Epitaph Records. The solo project of Stevie Knipe, Adult Mom songs offer a glimpse into the tumultuous journey of a gender-weird queer artist and how they manage to grow despite copious amounts of heartbreak and trauma. ‘Sober’ has elements of Regina Spektor mixed with the current blend of DIY indie upstarts like Beabadoobee as Stevie talks about how sobriety can bring about some home truths: ‘Honesty broke the class of the bottle that I struck at the door’. There are also some words that capture the feeling of emptiness that comes when a relationship draws to an end: ‘The only thing that I’ve done this month is drink beet, masturbate and ignore phone calls from you. What else am I supposed to do?’
