Adina Porter Gets Role in “Underground”

Adina+Porter+Newsroom+Season+2+Premiere+Hollywood+ki3FV1nDMyFxTrue Blood’s Lettie Mae, Adina Porter has landed a recurring role on Underground, WGN America’s pre-Civil War drama about the Underground Railroad.

The series from Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom. They are aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back — dead or alive.

Porter joins a cast that includes True Blood’s Christopher Meloni and Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge (Leverage) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow).

Porter will play Pearly Mae, a strong wife and mother who first gives voice to the song in which the runners will find clues to help guide them to freedom. Porte also recurred on The 100 and HBO’s The Newsroom, and other recent TV credits include The Vampire Diaries, Glee and Grey’s Anatomy.
