The days have gone when at the end of an evening you had to scrabble for a taxi number to book a taxi that may or may not arrive.
App technology has meant that booking a taxi can be a smooth and informative process.
I recently was given the opportunity to have three days testing out the new Addison Lee iPhone app. Addison Lee is the UK’s most successful minicab company and operates mainly within the M25. This Addison Lee App has made booking a taxi home very easy.
One
Press the app on the home screen of your iPhone (or other device) and the app will pinpoint to where you are immediately. This was impressive and very accurate – even to the house number. The app also tells you approximately when your transport will able to be with you – to the minute. The closer you are to central London then you will find the wait times are generally shorter.
Two
Then you decide where you would like to go. Simply punch in the postcode or search for a building or area and you will be given a list of choices – again very easy.
Three
Once you have chosen your destination you will be told the exact price of your journey. If you are an account holder then the price will be a little more expensive but the arrival time is generally shorter and you will have priority over non-account customers.
Four
Once you have pressed book the magic starts to happen. Once a driver has been assigned you will be sent a text to say that your Addison Lee car is on its way – this will contain the registration number of the car. You have the option to track the driver and call the driver if you wish. Once your car has arrived you will get another text to say that your car is arrived. My experience of this was excellent, often the driver will leave their hazard lights flashing so you can easily identify them straight away if its dark.
Five
Then sit in the car and relax in your chosen car (there are VIP and hybrid options if you so desire), all the drivers were very professional and friendly. They were keen to chat but also respected your privacy if you wanted to have some peace and quiet.
