Adding More Color to New Abstract Painting

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

Up to this point, I've been using variations of brown in the foreground of this new abstract painting:  raw sienna, burnt sienna, burnt umber and raw umber.  I also used some Indian yellow for the central images.  Today I added cadmium yellow, cadmium orange, and cadmium red light

I drew lines with these colors for texture and highlights.  I began with the yellow in the upper center area, then moved outward with the orange and red.  But I also added spots of these colors to the outer areas of the canvas, in a sense to "connect the dots."

I added more detail in burnt sienna and burnt umber, also, focusing on the intersections of the angular lines in order to make them pop out more.  The idea is to bring the eye both outward toward the edges and back into the center, as well as create paths for it to move around the composition.

More work to come tomorrow.
