Active shooter at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi has been ‘neutralized’

A member of the Naval Security Forces was injured, the statement said.

"All doors to the facility remain closed while first responders deal with the scene," said the Navy. "The NCIS is on its way, and national and local law enforcement are on the scene."

The FBI also responded to the incident and is participating in the investigation, according to a spokesperson for the Houston office's outside office.

Naval security forces responded to reports of an active shooter at around 6:15 a.m. (Pacific time), according to the Navy release.

The base was then locked, according to an article posted on the base's Facebook page.

Naval Air Station Corpus Christi has been welcoming naval pilots since 1941, according to its website.
