Story: Acquainted starts when Drew (Gianniotti) and Emma (Oliveira) meet on a night out, the two were former acquaintances and both are involved in long term relationships, but they have a friendship that sees them wanting to spend time together.

Drew has just bought a home with his girlfriend, looking to decorate it in their own style, while Emma is looking to move to Montreal for her latest part of education, one which might see her moving away from her boyfriend Alex (Ablack), both people’s lives are about to change, now they need to decide what they would like most in their future.

Thoughts on Acquainted

Final Thoughts Acquainted brings us into the modern view of love, seeing how two people could meet at random and believe they are in love, only to have a problem about being together, being involved in a relationship with other people. It shows us how people can be taking the biggest stage of their lives, but someone could make them rethink this decision, even if it is just a spark, that could throw away something they have had for years. It is strange that the characters are not the nicest, as you see how they are so desperately trying to cheat on each other’s partners even if they know it would be wrong. It never offers up enough of the idea that people could be friends, showing that people can throw away something stable for the unknown. The acting through the film is strong with Giacomo Gianniotti and Laysla De Oliveira taking the leading roles well through the film.
