Moalboal is a municipality about 90 kilometers southwest of Cebu City. From South Bus Terminal in Cebu City, Moalboal is a 3–hour bus ride away.
The beaches—Panagsama Beach or Basdiot, and White Beach or Basdaku—are about 5 kilometers from the highway and can be reached by tricycle (Php20 per person) or habalhabal (motorcycle).
Bas means sand, diot means small, daku means big. Though there is little to no sand in Basdiot, there are many resorts and dive shops in this area. Most visitors to Basdiot are divers.
The white sandy shore is in Basdaku. There are open cottages for day trippers, areas for camping, and a dozen accommodation options for those who want to stay for a night or two:
