Acab Brik – ‘Old Pain’

Acab Brik (itoldyouiwouldeatyou’s Joey Ashworth) has shared ‘Old Pain’ – the first single to be taken from the acab family’s forthcoming mixtape ‘Winter Singles’. Influenced by the London queer punk scene and lo-fi electronica, Joey says the song is ‘about heartbreak as an aesthetic. If you treat your feelings that way, one day they won’t suit you anymore.’

Clocking in at just over two minutes, the song is doused in lo-fi electronica and vocoded vocals that come off like a combination of Anamanaguchi and the ‘weirder’ songs on The 1975’s recent records as Joey sings about gold chains, nicotine stains and their wish to be buried inside their girl’s place…
