Verdict: Standard Sci-Fi Horror
Story: Doom: Annihilation starts as we follow a group of UAC Marines who are being punished because of the actions of LT Joan Dark (Manson) be sending them to a remote research facility on Phobos, one of the moons of Mars, In the base, Dr Malcolm Betruger (Mafham) has been working on trying to teleport people, only the experiment has been going very wrong, leading the base to be abandoned when the Marines arrive.
Once inside the Marines learn that monsters are in the facility, waiting for their latest victims, with a host of different weapons, the marines must fight back to survive.
Thoughts on Doom: Annihilation
Characters – LT Joan Dark is the member of the unit who is being punished because of her actions alone, this has caused tension between her and the unit, she will always fight to defend her team, which sees her step up on the base facing a new evil, she is also the only soldier or character we learn anything else about, other than that she once dated Dr Stone. Dr Malcolm Betruger has been working on the teleporter which sees him willing to put himself through the portal, only he has his own reason for making this happen, knowing the answers to everything they will be facing. Dr Bennett Stone is looking forward to his new assignment on the base, only to need to fill in the gaps for the marines to fight back to survive.
Performances – Amy Manson in the leading role is the best of the performers in this film, with Dominic Mafham being the easy villain for the film. The rest of the cast do struggle to make a big impact in this film.
Story – The story here follows a group of marines who are going routine mission, only to find themselves needing to fight for their lives against an unknown enemy. This story might well be closer to the video game, though it doesn’t seem to offer much different from the original Doom movie that got slammed, we don’t get much characters development and by the end you will feel let down with how it ends, because it does just leave it open for another film.
Action/Horror – The action in the film is the military style bullets flying that we have become used to seeing with the horror being the creatures that are trying to hunt them down.
Settings – The film is set in the Mars base which sees never ending and is always filled with what the marines are trying to hunt down.
Special Effects – The effects do feel weak with the CGI coming through way to heavily in the film.

Final Thoughts – This is another attempt to bring the Doom game to life, only it doesn’t reach any of the potential is has with how the game can be a flat out action horror enjoyment, this ends up feeling flat for the most part.
Overall: Disappointing.
