Thoughts on Visions

Characters & Performances – Eveleigh Maddox has been recovering from a car accident, which saw the other car lose a baby, she is trying to start her own family, with a fresh life, which will see her coming off the meds to make sure the baby remains healthy, she starts to experience strange visions around their new home, which sees her starting to investigate the home and her only friend coming from her pre-natal class, she must convince her husband about what is happening, while continue to forgive herself for an accident, which wasn’t her fault. Isla Fisher does have to do the most in the film, she does standout as the best performer in the film. David is the husband that is preparing the vineyard to open, which does see him away from the home for large parts of the time, even though he is doing everything he will to support his wife, wanting what is best for her. We do also get the new friend in Sadie, the strange specialist Helena, long-term friend Eileen and the Dr Mathison who has been treating Eveleigh for the last year. These roles are filled with big names in Gillian Jacobs, Joanna Cassidy, Eva Longoria and Jim Parsons who are all fine without having too much to deal with.

StoryThe story here follows a couple who are looking to start a fresh life in a vineyard, while starting their family, while focusing on the mother-to-be and her new haunting visions from around the home. This is one of the haunting mysteries, where the lead character is never in danger from what they are seeing, more being guided, which is always interesting to watch if done correctly. This story has plenty of mystery, but with a twist coming that is painfully obvious which does take away from the built up mystery. The story however, is nice and short, making it easy to digest.

ThemesVisions is a horror mystery, with most of the haunting moments being safe, with basic scares happening throughout, the mystery does see the clues adding up. The setting of the vineyard does give us the chance to see history behind the location.

Final Thoughts Visions is a nice easy to watch horror that does lack the scares, but builds a well connected outcome.
