Story: Every Breath You Take starts as we meet psychiatrist Philip (Affleck), wife Grace (Monaghan) and daughter Lucy (Eisley) who have been through their own traumatic experience in the past. Philip has tried a different approach with one of his patient Daphne (Lind) one he believed had helped her, until she commits suicide suddenly.
Daphne’s brother James (Claflin) arrives to put the affairs in order, which will see him start getting close to Philip’s family, as somebody is trying to ruin his career, can he stop that this before losing everything.

Thoughts – Every Breath You Take is a mystery thriller that will see a psychiatrist have his life turned upside down when one of his patients commits suicide, leading to her brother getting too close his family, looking to slowly tear them apart. This is a mystery that will keep us wondering as to why the man has started to target the family, he doesn’t seem to have done anything wrong, he tried for help the patient with her problems. The character of Lucy does seem like she needs a lot of help which nobody is giving her, showing us just how easily she can be manipulated by someone in her life, while the overall idea the family has been struggling, is key to seeing why certain decisions happen. Most of the film is leading down a path we have seen before, leaving us just with the motivation to work out. The performances in the film are solid, giving us everything we need, without ever hitting the top levels that other such movies have achieved in the past.
Final Thoughts – Every Breath You Take is a by the book thriller that wants to be edgier, only to fall into the standard.
