ABC Film Challenge
Anticipated for 2019

The year 2018 is coming to a close and it is time to look ahead to the new year, through December the subject is the films I am looking forward to seeing, hopefully I will be able to select one film for each letter even if we dive into actors, directors or themes. Join in if you want and let’s get this conversation going about the next hopefully wonderful year in film.
Aladdin
Stars – Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Will Smith
Synopsis – A live-action retelling of the 1992 Disney film of the same name.
The Main Reason I Want to See It – When it comes to the 1992 version of Aladdin, Robin Williams stole the movie as the Genie, which fine, the problem comes from making the story take a back burner to the comedy routine. The live action Disney movies have been enjoyable and been able to expand the story to have a human factor, the worry with this film would be Guy Ritchie whose last film King Arthur was a disappointment both in quality and box office.
Release Date (UK) – 24th May 2019
The Aftermath
Stars – Alexander Skarsgard, Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke
Synopsis – Post World War II, a British colonel and his wife are assigned to live in Hamburg during the post-war reconstruction, but tensions arise with the German who previously owned the house.
The Main Reason I Want to See It – When it comes to war movies, we have seen nearly every type of destruction, heart breaking story and battle we could imagine, so by taking up the story of the aftermath of war should be a very interesting war, much like what ‘Emperor’ gave us, this could be one that gets people to want to learn about the consequences of war.
Release Date (UK) – 1st March 2019
Alita: Battle Angel
Stars – Rosa Salazar, Jennifer Connelly, Eiza Gonzalez
Synopsis – An action-packed story of one young woman’s journey to discover the truth of who she is and her fight to change the world.
The Main Reason I Want to See It – This is a movie that has been delayed for 2018, it does have a unique look about it and does seem to have an interesting story that will focus on a character looking for a place in the world. the fight scenes look like a lot of fun which is what we want to see at times, as a fan of Robert Rodriquez I will give any of his films a go, I just hope we get to see this one this year.
Release Date (UK) – 5th February 2019
Ad Astra
Stars – Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland
Synopsis – Astronaut Roy McBride travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet.
The Main Reason I Want to See It – A sci-fi film that isn’t just battles, well this sounds like something I am going to be enjoying from start to finish, anything that involves solar system travel is interesting to watch, we have a stellar cast here, a director who has only made good films, we have everything we need to enjoy ourselves.
