Thoughts on Accident Man
Characters & Performances – Mike Fallon is a slick assassin that always makes his kills look like an accident or suicide. He enjoys making up new ideas for the accidents, but when his ex-girlfriend is a victim of a hit, he must use his skills to learn who was behind it. He doesn’t stop fighting against anyone who comes his way, as he has learnt how to deal with the group from learning about their kills. Scott Adkins is always a great person to have in an action film, here he does bring a calming presence on the verge of comedy in the film. Big Ray runs the assassin’s bar where he welcomes in the different killers to play by certain rules, he gets his cut without getting his hands dirty anymore. Ray Stevenson does make for a fun addition in this role. Milton is the connection between the hits and the clients, giving out the assignments, never looking like he should be part of this world. David Paymer does show us a character that is clearly out of his depth, which will add to the comedy in the film. We also meet the other assassins that will all have different skills and will get their moment to shine in a battle against Mike.
Story – The story here follows an assassin that has been going about his business in London for years until he must look at the people he works with after a loved one is killed by one of them, turning his skills on his friends. This is based of a comic book, so we know early on things can go over the top at times, which will help make this a more enjoyable movie. The story is broken down to be a simple revenge film, with one man looking to kill everyone who crossed him. It is a story that will give you plenty of twists along the way and one that will rely on the action to get the most entertaining part of the story out.
Themes – Accident Man is an action film that lets Scott Adkins unleash his fighting style on the world once again. We do get to see the different style he must fight against, with his style being the more dominate in the fights, while using the London setting to show us the pure chaos involved in the world.
Accident Man is a highly entertaining action film that keeps the story light-hearted without falling into pure comedy, continuing to show Scott Adkins as a modern day action star.
