My friend Sameer Malkani from Food Bloggers Association, India (FBAI) had asked if i could cover the Press Conference for the annual ABC Farms Cheese and Wine Festival which takes place at ABC Farms , Koregaon Park , Pune.
I was delighted and along with Farzana we decided to go and have a look.
Even she had come to cover the event
----------------------------
The early evening timing made it a very nice experience, there were a variety of cheese on display which were made in Abc Farms itself and we were impressed by the variety.
The cookies on display, have to admit tasted each one.
We were also taken for the factory tour where the cheese is been made, my knowledge of cheese making is limited to the programmes shown on Discovery Travel and Living, but here we were shown in person by Mr Sohrab Chinoy the man behind this institution and remarkably supported by his son and daughters, the passion is to be seen in all of them and we loved the evening meeting them and various other people from the blogging industry, press and other notable personalities.
They are having their Festival this weekend , where the details are in the press release below.
The annual ABC Farms Cheese and Wine Festival is set to take over Pune city on the
weekend of the 23rd and 24th of November 2013 at ABC Farms Pvt. Ltd. Koregaon Park.
Since the early eighties, ABC Farms has been enticing Puneites to appreciate and enjoy their dairy
products and inculcated in its patrons a love for cheese. ABC Farms products include milk, Lemsi,
organically grown grains and the artisanal cheeses they are famous for which are created at the in
house dairy at Koregaon Park.
In this 7th consecutive year that the dairy brand will host what has become the social event of the year
for all foodies in Pune. This season exciting new cheeses, cheesecakes, dips and an incredible variety
of delectable dairy delights will make their mark.
“Last year the festival drew over 5000 people over the two days and it was great. This year we want to
make it more fun and have a little something extra for everyone to enjoy.” explains Diana Chinoy of
ABC Farms. Culinary spreads, epicurean purveyors including jewelry, pottery and home crafts, a fun
area with Shutterbug and a caricature artist on site, and a variety of locally-made products are just
some of the novelties at this ultimate Food and Wine experience, making it a true family weekend!
Wine companies Reveilo, Vallonne, Fratelli, Rio and Charosa as well as an international beer stall will
indulge visitors with sampling and sales, adding an extra zing to the cheese flavors of the weekend.
The piece the resistance of the event, the ABC Farms Cheese Board will feature a range of cheeses
from the old classics like the Boursin with Pepper or Paprika to the popular Monterey Jack and other
favourites including Feta, Buffalo Mozzarella, Smoked Cheddar and a variety of flavoured Edam and
Gouda. However cheese lovers will not want to miss this chance to sample the new Edam with Lemon
Rind and Edam with Sundried Tomatoes and Basil, a gloriously aged Pecorino that is as strong and
sharp as it is old and a creamy 3-milk cheese made using buffalo, cow and goat’s milk. Look out for the
particularly interesting Murcia Al Vino, a well-aged cheese made from cow’s milk; with raisins that have
fermented while the cheese ripens, giving it a wonderfully winey flavor. Perfect for those who want to
get drunk on flavours but not alcoholically inebriated!
Breaking away from sampling the visitors this year are invited to tour the cheese-making facility on the
premises. The fantastic line-up of events also includes an exciting cook-off for amateur chefs and an
enlightening talk on organic food by fitness guru Mickey Mehta.
ABC Farms has a packed roster of events planned for the 2013 Festival, and continues its longstanding
tradition of putting on a food and drink experience that will appeal to every one's taste buds.
This year promises to be as memorable as the last years’ and a lot more exciting than ever before.
From the wine curious to the expert, whether you are a full-fledged foodie or an emerging gourmand,
you will find tastes and temptations at every turn.
