Abbott Wants To Replace Perry As Top Right-Wing Nut-Job In Texas

Abbott Wants To Replace Perry As Top Right-Wing Nut-Job In Texas Well, it's official -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is running for governor. Abbott is a darling of the teabagger element in Texas, and while a little bit smarter than Rick Perry (a feat not hard to accomplish), he would pursue all of the same lunatic-fringe-right-wing ideas that Perry did.
Women and minorities rights would suffer even more, schools would continue to be inadequately financed and not required to meet national standards, pollution (including fracking) would continue unabated, voting rights would be restricted further, refusal to expand Medicaid would continue, services for poor & disadvantaged citizens would be cut more, and corporations would continue to get a free ride on taxes. In short, Texas' race to the bottom would continue.
That makes it more important than ever that the Democrats find a viable candidate to run (are you listening Wendy Davis?), and then adequately fund that candidate. After all, Abbott already has a campaign war chest of around $22.7 million.
