£210k Raised for Barnardo’s at This Year’s Firecracker Ball

By Simon Crowther @prestigeflower

Just in case you missed it, this year’s Firecracker Ball was held on the 8th of November atRuddingPark,Harrogate and it was a wonderful success!  Guests were treated to a magical night and scrumptious food all in the name of a fine local charity.  What better way to spend your money than for a cause like Barnardo’s?

The décor was absolutely outstanding and the Willie Wonka element was most definitely captured throughout the room.  The ceiling resembled the perfect starry night and the decorations were of gigantic proportion.  Huge candy canes, lollipops, colourful oversized mushrooms and flowers made you feel like you really were walking through Wonka’s chocolate factory!

Being surrounded by such large decorative items, you couldn’t help but be reminded of the huge impact such an event can have on so many people’s lives.  This year’s event managed to raise an impressive £210,000 for Barnardo’s.  With the festive season just around the corner, these funds couldn’t have come at a better time for all of those families and children in need.

Not only did Prestige Flowers attend the event this year but we were also happy to donate fresh flowers for a year, a luxury Prestige Hamper and each diner was presented with a £10 gift voucher to use at www.barnardosflowers.org.uk.  The fresh flowers for a year managed to raise £550 and the hamper was raffled to a lucky winner.  All the funds raised were donated directly to Barnardo’s.

Another interesting note to mention regarding the gift vouchers is that they were printed on seed paper and arranged with lovely clay pots.  After using their vouchers, recipients can plant the paper in the pot provided and watch the seeds take root and grow!

The next ball is scheduled for Saturday, the 14th of November 2015 and tickets are already available.  Given the demand, those interested in attending should book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.  If past years are anything to go by, next year is bound to be yet another extraordinary event.
