A Witness Of The Truth

I love the name Jehovah. I started using that name when I was a teenager instead of saying “God” or “Father” during prayer after briefly hanging around the Jehovah’s Witnesses at my home for study and prayer.

Whether one uses “Yahweh”, “Lord”, “Father”, or “God” all is fine as long as we end our prayers in the name of Jesus.

We should speak which name we feel comfortable with and whichever name can be used interchangeably.

I remember when I was eighteen years of age and mentioned to a lady I had bible study with the certain spiritual gifts I possessed as it came up during a conversation.

She said to me that, “God doesn’t work that way with people anymore as he did in the Old Testament”. She also stated that if anyone manifested any spiritual ability within this day and age then it was of the devil.

I told her she was wrong and that her words were untrue. I went on to explain my point, and my own personal account within a polite manner.

Still, she did not want to accept the truth.

She expressed her jealousy as she revealed, “Telling the future!” That would be the ultimate gift that there is. I, or everyone else would like to be able to do that! Why would God give only a chosen few that gift?”

I do not agree that everyone would desire a gift of prophesy. And God gives certain individuals various gifts- not just a chosen few- according to whatever it is he designed to accomplish within them.

This woman happened to be a Jehovah’s witness so I do not know if that played a part in her disbelief as they do not believe in certain things such as the trinity. They do not believe the trinity is scriptural, however, spiritual gifts are based in scripture.

And, I myself do know and believe in the trinity. I always have believed.

A Witness Of The Truth

One does not have to be a Jehovah’s witness to disagree about the nature or existence of supernatural gifts of prophesy through knowledge, dreams, and visions.

There were other Jehovah witnesses who disagreed with her at the time.

I myself was never a Jehovah’s witness, but I did enjoy bible study with them and visiting the Kingdom Hall.

I liked the way they conducted their service. The singing and the sermons were always done in such a calm and peaceful manner. Worship at the podium was serene, agreeable to my taste.

I had never heard anything out of the way. Maybe I did not stay long enough to. There were people there from all walks of life present. A few were ignorant, annoying, and gossipy. People who exhibit behavior of this kind unfortunately are found everywhere in life.

What had initially drawn me to explore their congregation was the fact that they did not celebrate birthdays, Christmas, and that they did not believe in receiving blood transfusions. These were already my standpoints. I had these views for personal reasons of my own without the influence of anything or anyone else.

Nevertheless, I eventually departed from attending Bible study and attending the kingdom hall. They are considered a cult among many people. It was just time for me to move on by my own admission.

Like I said before, I did appreciate how they would come study in the comforts of my own home along with weekly study at another location other than the Kingdom Hall.

Everyone has the right and freedom to believe in what they know or choose.

Our experience is our truth. We just have to sometimes evaluate our interpretations.
