If you have been blown away by weeks 1 and 2 of this whole week in the life of Monica series, then you aint seen nothin’ yet.  We 3 for this work at home mom of 4 has been one that might make some go running for the hills.  Motherhood is not for the faint at heart.  The good news is all the stuff that happens to them as babies really prepares you well for the stuff that happens to them as they get bigger.

So I won’t keep you in suspense any more.  Here is the week in the life of me for November 16 – November 22, 2013.

Saturday November 16

A quiet Saturday with all four kids.  Or as quiet as a day can be with four kids at home.  We got the winter clothes out to sort through that and see what everyone might need.  I discovered that the girls were all pretty good, but my son was seriously lacking in the winter clothing department.  So we were going to need to take care of that.  I had to work that night though so it wasn’t getting done then.  My husband got home from work and we had dinner and I started working.

Sunday November 17

My day started out working.  The two older kids kept the little ones entertained (err, cleaning their room) while I got work done.  By the time my husband got home from work I was done with my work so we headed out to try to resolve the problem of my son’s lacking wardrobe.  Because we were out so late clothes shopping we went out to dinner where we got terrible service.  Ugh, I hate that.  We came home and did baths and bed time routines.

Monday November 18

This was a pretty typical day.  Brought my middle daughter to her bus stop, came home, worked out, showered, got my husband and oldest daughter dropped off at work and school, and came home to get my son ready for school.  Brought him to the bus stop and came home.  Worked on some writing gigs I had and played with my 2 year old and did some laundry.  My son came home, we had lunch, and put the baby down for a nap.  My oldest came home, then a while later I had to go pick up my middle daughter from her bus stop and finally my husband from work.  We came home, had dinner, and did the bed time routine.  Then I spent the evening working.

Tuesday November 19

This day started out similar to Monday except my middle daughter’s bus was very late so I missed my workout.  Had to bring my oldest to school and husband to work still and then my son on the bus for school.  Spent my morning writing and doing laundry.  When my son got home from school we went out for lunch (I had to go out anyways to get a few things so figured it would be easier to just eat while we were out so I could pick everyone up on time).  After lunch we went to Walmart to look for what I needed, but couldn’t find it.  When we left there I realized my oldest was about to get out of school and I wasn’t sure if she had her key. So we went to pick her up and then went to AC Moore, Marshalls, and finally Famous Footwear looking for what I needed.  I didn’t have much luck finding everything I wanted, but I got the most important thing, new shoe laces for my son’s shoes.  By then my middle daughter was going to be getting to her bus stop soon so we headed there to wait for her.  Then to pick my husband up from work, and finally home where I had to make a business phone call.  When I finished my phone call we had dinner, finished up the first of our 26 Acts of Kindness project and brought that up to my neighbor.  Then I kept getting phone calls from my trainee who was having some trouble with the work we were doing so I went back downstairs to walk her through everything.  My husband went across the street to get some things and rent a movie.  We put the little ones to bed and the big ones stayed up late watching the movie before going to bed.  We went to bed shortly after.

Wednesday November 20

This day started out much like every other day.  Got my daughter on her bus and came home.  Worked out and then realized that my daughter had been texting me about a boy on her bus who cut her hair with a hole punch.  Ugh, so I told her when she gets to school to tell the principal.  She did and said the principal was very mad at this boy and made him sit down.  He was supposed to call me sometime that day.  I went about the rest of my day.  Got my oldest to school.  My husband was off for the day and we had a lot of errands to get done before my middle daughter got out of school early.  So I called and canceled my daughter’s therapy for the day.  She had another therapist coming out the next day so I figured we would be okay.  My husband got my son on the bus and then we went out for breakfast, to Once Upon A Child in search of some winter coats (only had luck for my youngest in that department), and then to the grocery store for our turkey.  We got some other things we needed for dinner that night.  Then we tried Savers for a winter coat for my son, but still had no luck there.  We had to get home to get him off the bus.  Unloaded the groceries, cleaned out the fridge, and my son came home.  Then we were waiting to hear from our middle daughter.  She texted that she was on her way so we went to get her and also got my oldest daughter out of school early.  Had lunch and then went on the hunt for that winter coat.  We got lucky with one winter coat, but still couldn’t find one for my oldest.  We went and dropped off a toy for Toys for Tots for day 2 of 26 days of kindness.  Then we came home and had dinner.  I heard from the principal at the school finally too about the incident with this boy and my daughter on the bus.  I was satisfied with how it was handled, all that I asked was that if this boy was truly remorseful that he apologize to my daughter and he said he would talk to them the next day.  But there’s no noticeable damage to my daughter’s hair and we will hope that this does not happen again or escalate any more.  I baked some brownies for my son’s celebration of families luncheon the next day.  I had to work so my husband got the kids to bed.

26 acts of kindness 2

Thursday November 21

Another early morning.  Got my daughter off to school, then had a deadline for a blog post I needed to get completed.  So worked on that for awhile.  Took my oldest daughter to school.  Came back home.  My husband didn’t have to be at work until the afternoon so he put our son on the bus while I worked on my review.  Then I cleaned up the living room in anticipation of my daughter’s therapy.  My husband cut up and individually wrapped my brownies for me.  My daughter’s therapist came over so we spent an hour with her.  As she left I went to my son’s school to have lunch with him and bring the brownies.  Then we came home and I put the final touches on my review and posted it and brought my husband to work.  I brought something to my hairdresser and then came home to give my daughter some lunch.  Put her down for a nap and took a shower while my son watched some cartoons.  My oldest came home from school and we started working on our day 3 project for 26 acts of kindness.  Then I had to go to pick my middle daughter up from her bus stop.  Came home and cleaned up the kitchen.  Cooked dinner and ate.  Then I went upstairs to invite my neighbor down for Thanksgiving.  Chatted with her for a while and came back down.  Put the kids to bed and relaxed for a few before going back out to pick my husband up from work.  Came home and sent the other two kids to bed.  Watched some TV with hubby before going to bed.

Friday November 22

Dragged myself out of bed feeling very sore and very run down.  Got my middle daughter to the bus and came home and went back to sleep.  Completely exhausted.  My husband brought my oldest to school before he went to work.  I got my son up shortly after and put him on the bus.  Then spent the morning with my youngest trying really hard and failing at waking myself up.  My middle daughter called me from school to tell me that her friend slammed her locker on her finger and that it was bruised and really hurt.  I was trying to figure out what I needed to do not having the car for the day.  I spoke to the school nurse who said she didn’t think it was broken and was giving her ice and sending her back to class.  I called my husband at work to let him know what was going on and he said let him know if he has to leave work to go get her.  Put some cartoons on for my youngest and tried to rest to get out of my funk.  It didn’t really work. My son came home from school.  Fed them lunch and put the youngest down for her nap.  Worked on some work I had to complete and heard from my daughter that her finger still really hurt.  Called the doctor to see what they suggest and got an appointment for her after she got out of school.  My husband picked her up after work and came home to get me and we left to go to the doctor.  My oldest stayed home with the two little ones.  At the doctor she looked at her finger and also said she doesn’t think it’s broken, but doesn’t want to xray it just yet.  If after the weekend it still hurts, then she wants to xray it.  We ended up getting her flu shot while we were there and went over her asthma control.  The doctor isn’t pleased with how her asthma is doing so we have to work at fixing it before her physical next month.  Hopefully we can get it under better control.  We came home, ordered some pizza, and got some for our neighbor too as part of our 26 acts of kindness.  I was on call for help with work and worked on some articles I have to write.  I crashed pretty early, it was an exhausting week.

So that was my week.  Hopefully we don’t have anymore trips to the doctor next week.  But my daughter’s finger still feels the same.  The bruising is improving though.  So hopefully that’s a good sign.

What did your week look like this week?
