The statement is from wallpapermagazine and it describes this year's Royal College of Artgraduate show. Having in mind the fact that it includes "nearly 500 art and design postgraduates from 40 countries... Mentored by some of the finest minds, including Tord Boontje and Neville Brody", they are probably right.
Having in mind some of the works, we can be sure that we are going to see a lot of good design in near future. Enjoy:
The Energy Collection by Marjan van Aubel
Solar glassware! These beautiful glasses and plates have the quality to absorb energy from the sun when they are in the light and then store it when returned to the cabinet-come-battery. This stored solar energy can be used to serve any number of charging purposes. This is not a Photoshop created image, but a real lighting design, created by thin transparent fabric hung vertically in layers - a 3D structure by Norie Matsumoto. Very well done!
Chiffon light, by Norie Matsumoto
Wet and Dry light, by Petter Thorne
Another interesting lighting design - paper is wetted and then left to dry on a frame.Water powered timers for the bathroom by David Weatherhead
