A True Blood Star Romances Sherlock

A True Blood Star Romances SherlockLara Palmer who played Sookie’s Fairy Godmother, Claudine, in True Blood, is scheduled to join the cast of BBC’s contemporary update of Arthur Conan Doyles’ Sherlock Holmes, named, “Sherlock”.

Lara Pulver, who joined True Blood in the third season, will play the part of Irene Adler. The character’s history is that of a kind of love interest for Sherlock Holmes. She’s American and appears in only one of Doyles stories, A Scandal in Bohemia, but she is mentioned in several others. Pulver’s version of the character will debut in the first episode of Sherlock’s second series, “A Scandal in Belgravia” which was written by show creator Steven Moffat.

Since this is a contemporary setting, Irene Adler will be slightly different. In the original book she’s an opera singer, and she still could be, but the door is open for her to be a pop star or something showier. Rachel McAdams portrayed Irene Adler in the film adaptation, Sherlock Holmes. That interpretation seemed very different from the Irene in the books.

Filming for “Sherlock”, Series 2 began in May, and should again include three episodes. There is yet to be announced an air date for the second season.
