Now that we have all had our fill of Turkey, I thought I write about a wine that pairs well with seafood. The Cortese di Gavi or Gavi for short is an Italian white wine produced in the Provience of Alessandria in the Piedmont region of Italy. Cortese is the grape, Gavi the town, hence the name.
No worries about oak in this wine as it is steel fermented and you can taste the flinty minerality. Aromas of citrus a mix of lemon and lime that carried over to the palate along with some green apple. There was a hint of almond in the wine and white spice on the finish.
The alcohol content in the wine is 11.5% and the wine retails for $13.99.
A very refreshing wine and will pair well with broiled and sauteed seafood.
