He took the image this summer on a trip to the North Pole, where the days were 20 hours long, and the ice caps are melting. This is one of the first of many images he’s putting together for a solo exhibition in the coming year. 
On a side note, what’s happening in the North Pole right now is incredibly fascinating—and potentially catastrophic for some countries, which will experience enormous shifts in weather patterns in the next few years. No one’s written something really comprehensive about the situation yet, but here’s an interesting article about the race towards claiming the resources that are quickly being unveiled as the ice disappears.
