Sara and Chris brought their friends and family to New York from Stockholm in Sweden for their wedding in Central Park this April. They met in junior high school and became a couple about eight years ago. Chris proposed to Sara in September 2013 while they were on a vacation in Thailand, the island Ko Samui. I asked them why getting married was important to them and Sara said “we love each other, we are best friends and want to spend the rest of our lives together and wanted to get married to celebrate all of this.”

They discussed having a big wedding in Sweden but in the end they decided to go with “a more adventurous, fun and casual option by getting married in Central Park,” said Sara. At first they considered getting married at City Hall but Central Park seemed like a more romantic option to them, and after the wedding Sara said that it definitely was. “We are really happy with our decision to elope and get married in central park, we had an amazing wedding,” said Sara.

Another advantage that a wedding in Central Park has over a City Hall wedding is that you can schedule the time. At City Hall, couples have to wait their turn for their ceremony, and if you are not sure when your ceremony will be then it is hard to plan around it and make restaurant reservations, or other plans for the day. Also, their ceremonies are standard, and we write the ceremonies especially for each individual couple. There is a lovely park near to City Hall, and Brooklyn Bridge is very close by, so there are opportunities for some nice photographs nearby, but many people agree that Central Park is a more picturesque location.

Their ceremony was held in English at the Ladies’ Pavilion. “It was beautiful, a perfect day and a perfect location,” said Sara. Sara wore a short wedding dress from a Danish bridal company called Lilly and Chris wore a tuxedo made by the Swedish designer J. Lindeberg. Sara carried pink and cream colored roses in her bouquet. Sara and her sister had their hair done at Dream Dry and Sara’s best friend did both her make up and her bouquet for her.

After the ceremony they all had lots of champagne back at the hotel, followed by dinner at ABC Kitchen. “The dinner was amazing, and I can recommend ABC Kitchen,” said Sara, “it is a beautiful place with really good service and amazing food.

“We are really happy with our wedding photos and would like to recommend Andy Mars, she was great,” said Sara. “We were really happy with the service from Wed In Central Park, we wanted to have as little planning and stress as possible and just enjoy everything and Claire made that possible,” said Sara.
