A Story

By Malavika

Once upon a time a man, his son and their donkey were walking through the desert. Eventually, they came across a little village. When the villagers saw the three of them, they exclaimed “What’s wrong with you guys? You are walking through the desert and you have a donkey and neither of you decides to ride him? Why would you do that?”

So the father thinks “ok, I guess they have a point” and asks his son to get onto the donkey and they set out for the rest of their journey, the man pulling the donkey with his son on top. Eventually they come across another small village.

When the villagers of this small village saw them, they exclaimed “What is wrong with you?! You must have a very disrespectful son because he seems to think that it’s okay to sit on the donkey and let his poor old father pull him along through the desert. Why would you do that?”

So the father thinks “Hmm, I guess they have a point” and so he asks his son to get off and he gets on the donkey. He instructs his son to pull him and the donkey along, just as the villagers suggested. So they set out on the rest of their journey and eventually they came across another small village.

When the villagers of this small village saw them, they exclaimed “What is wrong with you?! What kind of father are you? Letting your poor young son pull you along in this desert!!”

So the father thinks “Maybe they have a point” and so he asks his son to join him on the donkey. The two of them sat on the donkey and continued on the rest of the journey when they came across another small village in the middle of the big desert.

When the villagers of this small village saw them, they exclaimed “What is wrong with you two?! How can you both be sitting on that poor donkey.”

The moral of the story: You can’t please everyone.
