A Smarter Stretch Mark Cream? Genius…

Ah, those dreaded stretch marks. Most women I know (myself included) have them as these vertical villains don’t discriminate: mothers…non-mothers…thin gals…curvy gals…celebrities (yes, even celebs are plagued with stretch marks). These annoying scars can strike anyone. Stretch marks, also known as striae, are caused by the elastin fibers being rapidly “stretched” in the skin’s dermal layer (think growth spurt, weight gain, and rapid muscle building). And the stats on these loathsome marks aren’t encouraging. Fifty to ninety percent of women will experience stretch marks in their adolescent years (aka puberty) and if she doesn’t get them then, she will likely get them during pregnancy or weight gain. As far as the causes it can range from hormonal to physical factors. They appear in a range of colors (new striae tend to be a deep purple hue whereas older marks typically turn a silvery gray shade).

What caught our attention about Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream is its claim to work on both new and old stretch marks (typically creams we’ve researched in the past are most effective on the newer, purple-ish marks). Their formula contains patented SmartPeptide technology which mimics amino acid sequences of the skin’s own restore functions. Sounds pretty smart to me. They conducted a clinical study and here’s a snapshot of the results:

  • 70% of participants experienced the first signs of visible improvement in stretch marks in 14 days
  • 90+% of participants saw overall improvement after 12 weeks of continued use

I bet most women would gladly slather on this “smarter” stretch mark cream if it resulted in reducing the appearance of their pesky stretch marks. The only lines we gals like are the short ones at the beauty counter…

If you’ve tried Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream, we’d love to hear your feedback!  Per the requests we’ve gotten on this topic, keep a look out over the next few weeks for a new post from Crows’ Feet, Cupcakes, and Cellulite featuring an in-depth article on stretch marks…from the causes to the symptoms to the most effective cosmetic and topical treatment options.
