A recent night's stay at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead offered a stunning view across the city.

I spend quite a lot of my time in Newcastle, seeing friends, on date nights for food and attending blog events and meetings. With this in mind, I'm no stranger to staying in the city center whether it's for a gig so we can go out and have a few drinks afterwards without needing to worry about taxis home, or for a spa weekend. I'd never considered staying at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, yet I drive past it going across the Tyne Bridge every time I'm heading into the city center. I guess I always had this misconception that Hilton hotels were expensive, but with so many of them around now and the choice of Hilton, Double Tree, Waldorf Astoria etc. there's one to suit all budgets!Staying in one of the Executive Rooms, I had one of the best views of the city. I spent some time in the morning, perched on the windowsill gazing out across the river. Had I been in work mode, the room offered a large desk area where I could keep up to date; great for a business stay. With an executive room you may be eligible for access to the executive lounge, located on the fifth floor. This invite only area is great for enjoying a coffee, or a wine (hey if it's an evening, I'm not judging) and looking out from a great vantage point. Kath who works in there is an absolute star too.
