A Review of Perrin Brewing’s Winter Warmer Variety Pack

For better or worse, winter is officially upon us. It's a time for Hot Toddies, Irish Coffees, Spiked Mulled Ciders (like the one we reviewed in our recent Ardbeg 10 review), and any other boozy beverage that strikes your fancy which was designed to keep you toasty on a cold winter day. Now if cocktails aren't your thing and you're more of a beer person, then there are plenty of brews available that were designed for the coldest and darkest of all seasons...

Three such beers came to us via a specially designed Winter Warmer Variety Pack from the fine folks at Perrin Brewing Company of Comstock Park, Michigan. Here's a bit about each of them taken directly from the press release that landed in our inbox this past November:

Coffee Latte Brown Ale (5.8% ABV) - Perky with coffee, light chocolate notes, and roasty aromatics, with milk sugar added to give it the luxurious creaminess of a latte. Coffee Latte is brewed with Germack Coffee's I-75 blend, an accessible road trip blend that's dark-roasted, earthy, full-bodied and smooth.Black Ale (5.8% ABV) - A counter-intuitive brew that pours dark as a winter night but drinks like a summer afternoon. With hints of semi-sweet chocolate and nuances of coffee, it's the perfect light-bodied yet flavorful dark ale to warm up with.Blonde Porter (5.8% ABV) - Provides light blonde balance to the Winter Warmer pack with a new take on a classic style. Oats and wheat give Blonde Porter a full, creamy body with coffee and chocolate notes for a rich roasted aroma and robust finish.

Thanks to these delightful sounding tasting notes, we went into this tasting wearing the rose-colored glasses of optimism. To find out if these brews lived up to our expectations, click the play button on the following video:
