A Recent Painting Influences How I Paint a New One

The things you learn while making one painting will help you paint the next one.  There have been times in my life where I thought each new painting was the antidote to the previous one.  If the first one was low-key in muted colors, for example, the next one would be shouting with loud colors. 

But my painting life has changed.  Now I am more likely to pursue a path begun in one painting, to work on a series of canvases that are related to each other.  One of the themes I've been exploring lately is a mosaic-like effect.
